About Limua Maui

Supporting the recovery and vitality of Maui’s landscapes for the benefit of future generations

Founded by long-time local residents Joseph Imhoff and Sara Tekula, two of Maui’s leading champions of regenerative land management and restoration through the return of native Hawaiian flora and fauna, Limua Maui aims to support the recovery and vitality of Maui’s landscapes for the benefit of future generations.

Recipients of the County of Maui’s 2017 Mālama i ka ʻĀina award, and founders of the Plant a Wish project, Sara and Joe have dedicated their lives to promoting and working in ecosystem restoration in Maui County for more than 20 years.

Together, they have managed land restoration projects across Maui Nui with dozens of landowners, to achieve a shared vision of a more resilient landscape. Their project management experience extends beyond land-based projects and into event management, nonprofit management, media production, and community organizing.

Limua Maui achieves this vision through three offerings for Maui’s communities:

  • Producing soil enrichment products at Haleakalā Biochar,

  • Land Restoration Consulting for private landowners, and

  • Restoration Project Management services.
